Lifesaving Shorts Contest!

Calling all lifeguards! Here’s your chance to merge a passion for water safety and video production – introducing the Lifesaving Shorts Contest!

The Lifesaving Society of Canada is holding their 3rd annual Lifesaving Shorts video contest to help promote water safety education. Contestants are asked to shoot a 3 minute video depicting one of the following water safety topics:

1. Always swim with a buddy.

2. Don’t drink and drive your boat.

3. Always wear a life jacket. The water is colder and deadlier than you think.

Click here for all contest and submission details.

Good luck!

Vintage First Aid

I love all things vintage! Nothing adds charm and character to a space than something that has lived through another era and could tell a hundred different stories (if only it could talk!).

While recently browsing through collections on Etsy & Pintrest, I came across some fabulously vintage first aid collectibles. Here are my favourite finds.

MedicAlert

MedicAlert is a phenomenal service that literally acts as “your voice in an emergency”.

MedicAlert is ideal for those with serious medical conditions such as anaphylaxis (severe allergies), asthma, diabetes and heart disease. It is a subscription service and for low monthly fee, all of your medical history is available 24 hours a day via the MedicAlert hotline. Also included in your subscription is a MedicAlert operator making all call to your family/emergency contact as soon as the hotline has been called in an emergency on your behalf.

For first aiders, encountering a victim wearing a custom-engraved MedicAlert bracelet, necklace or watch (there are over 100 styles to choose from) is extremely helpful in identifying potential causes of the first aid emergency. This is especially helpful if the victim is unconscious. The more information that a first aid provider knows upfront, the better the first response care and treatment will be.

Check out MedicAlert’s website today to see if this service may be right for you.

And remember… be calm, be confident and think common sense!
