Canadian Blood Services

“Approximately every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. In fact, according to a recent poll, 52 per cent of Canadians say they, or a family member, have needed blood or blood products for surgery or for medical treatment. The good news is that one blood donation – in just one hour – can save a life.

The Canadian Blood Services is a fantastic organization that is saving lives everyday. I am an avid blood donor (except when my iron is too low or I have travelled to the other side of the world) and I will be scheduling my next appointment before summer hits. Each person can donate once every 2 months (6 times per year) and here is why your blood is desperately needed:

Sticker Thermometer

It’s never fun when your child has a fever, but sticker thermometers for your little one can help make monitoring their temperature easier. I am a huge fan of forehead thermometers that you leave stuck onto the child and the thermochromic ink inside will change colour depending on their temperature so you can see how they’re doing in one quick glance. Here is an example of this amazing product:

You can find these types of sticker thermometers in your local pharmacy. Click here to find out more about taking care of a child’s fever from www.kidshealth.org.

Charity Water

I don’t often talk about first aid problems that don’t directly affect us in Canada, however today’s post is all about our world’s water crisis. One billion people in our world have to drink contaminated water every day, which can lead to illness and disease. It is a horrible issue, but it IS solvable. Click on the image below to learn how clean water changes everything.

This is why I have pledged my 27th birthday to Charity: Water.

Charity: Water is a not-for-profit organization that implements clean water projects all over the world. The amazing thing about this organization is that 100% of all public donations go directly to funding water projects. You can see where your donation ends up through GPS tracking, as well as photos of the water project’s progress.

Please follow the links if you are interested in pledging your own birthday or helping me reach my donation goal. I sincerely appreciate it. Check out Charity: Water’s website and the wonderful work their team is doing.

Be calm, be confident and let’s all be thankful for our clean water!
