Pop Culture First Aid #5: CPR

Throughout the month of May we have looked at first aid & CPR in pop culture (and why you should never believe what you see on TV!). There are some awesome examples on the big screen, the small screen and in music.

The last pop culture post this month is about CPR and I’ve saved the best for last!

Mr. Bean is an iconic character that I loved watching as a child, but it just so happens that he is the LAST person I would want helping me in an emergency (and here’s why)! You should not learn first aid & CPR from Mr. Bean. He’s awful. He’s a crafty good samaritan, but an unskilled lifesaver. (Maybe with a little ON-SITE First Aid training he’d be ready to go?!)

In order to help Mr. Bean improve his skills while waiting for the bus, I have created this 1-page PDF all about Hands-Only CPR that anyone can learn in a couple of minutes. Also check out this funny video to reinforce the Hands-Only CPR concepts.

As always, be calm, be confident and think common sense!

Pop Culture First Aid #4: First Aid Kits

Throughout the month of May we will be looking at first aid & CPR in pop culture (and why you should never believe what you see on TV!). There are some awesome examples on the big screen, the small screen and in music.

The second last pop culture reference this month is about first aid kits.

First Aid Kit is the name of a Swedish Folk duo who is turning out some awesome music. Click here and here to listen to some of their fantastic work.

If you’re looking to purchase a first aid kit that heals wounds (and offers lots of value), look no further! If you’re looking to purchase First Aid Kit that heals the soul, also look no further!

Be calm, be confident and think common sense!

Pop Culture First Aid #3: Wounds

Throughout the month of May we will be looking at first aid & CPR in pop culture (and why you should never believe what you see on TV!). There are some awesome examples on the big screen, the small screen and in music.

Third on the list is all about wounds.

Leona Lewis sings about Bleeding Love (watch an amazing dance routine while you’re at it!) and Linkin Park Bleeds It Out.

Luckily Up‘s Russell is here to help us fix the problem! Enjoy!

Pop Culture First Aid #2: Heart Attack

Throughout the month of May we will be looking at first aid & CPR in pop culture (and why you should never believe what you see on TV!). There are some awesome examples on the big screen, the small screen and in music.

Second on the pop culture list is heart attack song lyrics.

The first of which is One Direction’s Heart Attack. And then there’s Demi Lovato’s Heart Attack.

If someone went from having a suspected heart attack to unconsciousness, use music to help you keep a CPR rhythm of 100 beats per minute. Look no further than the Bee Gees’ Stayin’ Alive. (You can also use Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust, but let’s not go there!)

In all seriousness, check out this fantastic diagram illuminating the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, specifically in women.

Pop Culture First Aid #1: EpiPen

Throughout the month of May we will be looking at first aid & CPR in pop culture (and why you should never believe what you see on TV!). There are some awesome examples on the big screen, the small screen and in music.

First on the list is a funny scene from the movie Horrible Bosses.

An EpiPen is used (although incorrectly) making for a very funny scene. Skip forward to the 2:00 mark for the action. (Warning: strong language is used in the video clip – viewer discretion is advised.)

Also, if you want to know how to administer an EpiPen correctly, check out this link.
